Our process
How we work
A clear process, so you know what stage your application is at, what we need from you and what happens next.
Step by step
-
1
1. Enquiry
You tell us what you want to apply for, the status you hold now and when your current permission ends. Please do not send identity documents at this stage.
-
2
2. Scope check
We check that the matter is straightforward and within our IAA Level 1 authorisation. If it is not, we tell you and signpost you to an appropriately authorised adviser.
-
3
3. Consultation
We discuss your circumstances, explain the route and its requirements, and point out anything that needs attention.
-
4
4. Client care letter
You receive a written client care letter confirming the work we will do, the professional fee and how it is paid.
-
5
5. Documents
We give you a document list written for your circumstances and tell you how to send documents securely.
-
6
6. Eligibility and document review
We review what you send against the requirements of the route and tell you about any gaps.
-
7
7. Preparation
We prepare the application form and supporting documents with you.
-
8
8. Your approval
You check and approve the final information before anything is submitted. The application is made in your name and the answers must be true.
-
9
9. Submission and fees
The application is submitted and the Home Office fees, and the Immigration Health Surcharge where it applies, are paid.
-
10
10. Biometrics or identity check
Where required, you give your biometrics at an appointment or verify your identity using the UK Immigration: ID Check app, as the Home Office instructs.
-
11
11. Decision and eVisa
UKVI makes the decision. If you are granted permission, we help you check your eVisa and UKVI account. If you are refused, we explain the decision and whether any further work is within our authorisation.
-
12
12. File closure
We confirm the matter is closed, note important future dates for you and keep your file for the period our regulator requires.
What we ask from you
- Give us your full immigration history, including anything you think may cause a problem.
- Send documents in the way we ask, and only once we have asked for them.
- Tell us immediately about any change of address, status or contact details.
- Respond to the dates we give you, because Home Office time limits are strict.
What we will never do
- Promise a particular outcome. UKVI decides every application.
- Take on work that is outside our IAA Level 1 authorisation.
- Submit an application we believe does not meet the rules without telling you so in writing.
- Encourage an application based on facts that are not true.
